We are looking for Helping Hands Team Member that wil l ensure litter free and well-maintained grass areas within all parts of the borough reaching an agreed standard.

MAIN DUTIES:

Grounds Maintenance and cleansing

• Sweeping, litter removal, clearing of leaves, fly tip and bonfire removal.
• Edging grass verges.
• Use of power tools as directed i.e. strimmers and blowers.
• Mowing as directed using pedestrian and ride-on controlled machinery.
• General driving duties including routine vehicle maintenance/inspection and vehicle cleaning.

Other Duties

• Deal with customer requests for service enquiries/complaints
• Report any defects to Team leader/Line Manager
• Act in a professional manner at all times and promote the Council in a positive manner.
• Be fully aware of health and safety requirements in relation to any task undertaken and ensure that safe working practices are adopted at all times.
• Attend training and briefing sessions when requested and take personal responsibility to improve and develop your skills, knowledge and ability.
• The need to adhere to adhere to Council’s Policies and specifically the Equal Opportunities Policy, Health & Safety Policy and the Code of Conduct.
• The need to comply with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 in relation to the management of Council records and information.
• The need to comply with the Data Protection 1998 and the principles enshrined within it in respect of personal information held by the Council.
• Carry out any other duties that may be required commensurate with the level of responsibility of the post.

The candidates must have:

• Full understanding of risk assessments and health and safety requirements associated with grass cutting and litter removal operations
• Excellent customer focus
• Positive approach to team working and working co-operatively with colleagues.
• Full driving licence
• Pedestrian Mowers including:
• Honda, John Deere, Hayter, Alko, Efco
• Hand held machinery:
• Strimmers
• Blowers
• Experience of grass cutting operations and associated tasks within local authorities.
