Cambridgeshire County Council is looking for a Head of Highways Maintenance and Management to lead critical highways services, ensuring the highest standards in service delivery and customer focus.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Service Director for Infrastructure and Project Delivery, this role includes operational leadership and accountability for:
- Carriageways, Footways, and Cycleways
- Green Infrastructure
- Drainage and Resilience
- Structures
- Customer Engagement for Highways Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver strategic objectives in line with organisational and community needs.
- Provide operational leadership for highways maintenance services, ensuring compliance withbest practices and legislative requirements.
- Oversee resource allocation, performance management, and service innovation.
- Engage with stakeholders, from town councils to contractors, fostering collaboration.
- Manage budgets and lead efforts to secure funding for key projects.Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree or extensive experience in civil engineering, project management, or similar.
- Membership in relevant professional bodies (e.g., ICE, APM) is desirable.
- Proven leadership in highways maintenance or related services.
Strong skills in strategic thinking, performance management, and stakeholder engagement. This role is hybrid, with 2-3 days at the New Shire Hall and essential on-site presence to lead teams
effectively.
