Green Warden
Job Purpose:
To undertake all aspects of grounds maintenance and litter management across the Waggonways throughout North Tyneside, promoting community safety with other organisations, and contributing to the effective management of North Tyneside’s wider Public Rights of Way network.
Job Content:
- Be a uniformed presence acting as a deterrent to vandalism, graffiti, and anti-social behaviour.
- Monitor and enforce appropriate bylaws (Dog Fouling, Littering, Fly Tipping).
- Act as a point of contact between residents and the Local Authority, paying particular attention to anti-social behaviour and environmental issues and referring them to the appropriate agency.
- Act as an ambassador for the Authority, giving advice and information to residents regarding crime prevention, housing matters, and environmental issues, whilst promoting the image of North Tyneside.
- Respond to all members of the public in a sympathetic and polite manner at all times.
- Liaise with schools and colleges to promote community safety and environmental education.
- Attend community meetings where appropriate.
- Deal with all enquiries and feed back in an appropriate manner.
- Maintain confidentiality all times.
- Maintain a constant awareness of potential problems, reporting incidents to Team Leader / other agencies where appropriate.
- Liaise with Team Leader, ensuring that any exchange of information is accurately recorded and reported to the appropriate agency.
- Liaise with colleagues in Security, Cleansing, Grounds Maintenance, and others to ensure a safe and clean environment.
- Produce and maintain action plans and operational manuals for daily activities.
- Plan general maintenance schedules.
- Carry out gardening and cleansing activities, including litter and graffiti removal.
- Carry out and record inspections, risk assessments and surveys, whilst logging incidents and accidents.
- Act as a qualified First Aider as and when required.
- Be a fully integrated member of the management team taking proactive steps with colleagues to improve services.
- Carry out any other relevant duties appropriate to the position of Green Warden.
- Undergo and successfully complete training relevant to the post of Green Warden.
- Work to identified targets included in Service and Council Plans.
- Other duties as appropriate in line with the grade of the post.
The candidate must have:
- A basic knowledge of countryside management skills
- Ability to use horticultural equipment
- To undertake training as required to undertake the role of Green Warden
- Clean valid driving licence
- A logical approach to problem solving
